Allseas has been awarded a contract by TAQA UK to dismantle the topsides of the Brae Alpha platform in the Central North Sea, adding to a recent decommissioning contract the firm secured for the Cormorant Alpha and Tern platforms.
The steady pace of awards reinforces decommissioning as a stable, less cyclical revenue stream for offshore contractors, even as broader exploration and production activity in the North Sea continues to slow. For firms like Allseas, positioned with the heavy-lift capacity these projects require, the segment offers a buffer against the volatility that still characterizes newbuild offshore construction work.
